Chasing Light, Occasionally Catching It
I'm Tony. Landscape and travel photographer. Blog and YouTube for the free stuff, guides and mentoring if you want more.
Nigel Danson picked out my Antarctica shot 🥇
“...there was one shot to me that really stood out from Tony... incredible use of a polariser... incredible sense of depth... and it really was special”
On a ship full of professional and amateur photographers, this shot was voted best of the trip. Landscape photographer Nigel Danson picked it out on his YouTube channel too!
A humble acceptance of my winners medal and proof penguin was not a paid actor
Guides for planning a trip, videos and writing blog articles for the rest of the time. I also do photography mentoring if you'd rather just talk it through.
Tony J Hughes, that’s me, but what do I do?
An hour online, your images, your questions. Composition, camera settings, editing, or working out what it is you're actually trying to say with your photography.
One to one mentoring
Trip reports, location breakdowns and the occasional tutorial. I write up the mornings that didn't work as well as the ones that did, which is most of them.
Blog and videos
Everything I know about a place, written down so you're not stood in a layby in the dark wondering if you're in the right one. The Lofoten guide runs to seventeen locations along the E10.

Mentoring. What is it?
Two ways to do this, and a free chat first if you're not sure which.
A coaching Session
Editing, Lightroom, Photoshop, composition, or getting off auto and staying off it. We agree what you want to work on beforehand so we're not spending the first ten minutes working out where to start.
A critique Session
£65, 45 minutes, up to 15 of your images. I go through composition, editing and whether the shot actually works, and you get honest feedback rather than the thumbs up you'd get on Instagram. You'll come away knowing what to do differently.
Everything I know about a place, written down so you're not stood in a layby in the dark wondering if you're in the right one. My Lofoten photography guide covers seventeen locations down the E10, and it's out now, with a free three-location taster if you want to try before you buy.
